Who is Les Racines du Futur® for?
Les Racines du Futur® was designed to bring together all those interested in specialized crops—whether they are already in the sector simply curious to understand what goes on behind the scenes of our production. The podcast is aimed in particular at specialized crop producers looking for concrete solutions for their farms, consumers who want to better understand the realities on the ground and the transitions underway, cooperatives, technicians, engineers, researchers, and technical organizations, as well as young farmers, students, and teachers. Each episode seeks to bridge the gap between expertise and education: we explain, experiment, illustrate, and share examples so that everyone leaves with clearer ideas... and the desire to go further.
The first four episodes will feature:
- Planting the future – Young people changing the plant world
- Climate: Cultivating Resilience
- Useful innovation: the life of an agricultural robot
- From the field to the planet – Geopolitics and the future of plants
What's in store for the first 10 episodes
The first ten episodes will explore the major shifts taking place across specialized Sectors —from global food geopolitics to the day-to-day challenges on the farm.
The podcast is organized into four main chapters:
- Understanding the World We Farm In (Episodes 1–4): Food Geopolitics and Global Security, New Generations of Farmers, Robotics and Agricultural Technologies, and the Impacts of Climate Change on the Sectors.
- Water Resources (Episodes 5 and 6) — Political and agronomic challenges related to access to water, and practical solutions for reducing consumption without sacrificing yields.
- Addressing Production Challenges (Episode 7) — The Phase-Out of Pesticides and Combined Alternatives to Address It.
- Toward the Market and the Institutional Framework (Episodes 8, 9, and 10): Understanding consumers and their paradoxes, innovating with products (the Story apple case), and evolving PDOs and PGIs without compromising their identity.
A clear, humane, and rigorous look at major agricultural and societal challenges
Les Racines du Futur® highlights those who are advancing specialized plant production on a daily basis, both in the field and in applied research. Here, there is no empty rhetoric: each episode offers a clear, human, and rigorous look at the major agricultural and societal challenges— climate, plant health, useful innovations, new economic models, generational renewal, and more. The ambition is simple: to provide benchmarks, open up perspectives, and highlight concrete solutions already at work in the Sectors.
Broadcast at a rate of one episode per month on major platforms (Spotify, Deezer, Apple Podcasts), the podcast is structured around sections that give it depth: Young shoots (portraits and new talent), Rooting tomorrow (a concrete solution), The future in seeds (prospective/debate)... and special formats linked to key events.
A voice to guide your listening: Nicolas Rafal
Nicolas RAFAL, an experienced host and presenter, will be hosting the first 10 episodes of the Les Racines du Futur® podcast. His role is not to act as an expert in place of the guests, but to serve as a facilitator. Through attentive listening and a mastery of verbal exchange, he knows how to create an atmosphere of trust, clarify ideas, follow up effectively, and bring the discussion back to concrete terms.
Accustomed to demanding event formats as well as more intimate conversations, Nicolas Rafal brings an essential balance to the podcast: seriousness without rigidity, clarity without simplification, closeness without familiarity. His voice and demeanor allow each episode to be fluid, accessible, and dense, regardless of the technicality of the subject or the profile of the guests.
A collective production, serving all Sectors
Supported by SIVAL and CTIFL, Les Racines du Futur® relies on an editorial committee to guarantee quality, neutrality, and diversity of viewpoints. This committee brings together SIVAL, CTIFL, VEGEPOLYS VALLEY, and IFV, all sharing the same requirement: to choose topics rooted in reality, invite legitimate voices (field, technical, research, innovation), and give a voice to agriculture that is moving forward. The result is a media outlet that promotes awareness and understanding, designed to connect professions, generations, and Sectors specialized plant production.
